Ubuntu Tweak's app center has two key differences from USC:
- It includes only those applications which are not available in Ubuntu Software Center. It also hosts newer versions of applications that are available in Ubuntu repositories but have not been updated because of Ubuntu's six month release cycle. For example, current Chromium stable version in Ubuntu 12.04 is 20. When a new build of Chromium is released, you may not see an updated version in Ubuntu Software Center but you can install it from Ubuntu Tweak.
- Basically Ubuntu Tweak automatically adds a PPA for any app you install. This ensures that you receive automatic updates when a developer releases new version of his app.
When you choose to install an app, Ubuntu Tweak will show you PPA sources. Once a source is enabled, Ubuntu Tweak will ask you to click on Update button which will refresh the repositories and install new applications on your system.
